I had my 39 week appointment yesterday and everything went well. When the nurse was trying to find the heartbeat, she informed me that I was having a contraction. I now have mixed feelings about this info. On the left hand, I am glad to know what a contraction feels like, but on the right, I wish I had remained in ignorance. The contraction was a feeling I had had many times before. It is slightly uncomfortable, but I love it because I have always thought it was Lucy trying to push her head out of my belly button (because, of course, she is equally as excited to see us as we are to see her). But, now I know it is a contraction. And this is not good. We are still a week away, and although I know they aren't the real thing, each time I feel it, I think, "Oh, my goodness, she could come soon!" I was awake much of last night because I felt so many of these painless contractions. And then, to make it worse, I had a painful one this morning. How long must this go on? Hopefully only one week!
We also went to the mountains yesterday. The ride was bumpy and uncomfy, but I remain pregnant. The men hunted and the women cooked. Actually, Steph cooked, and I played with Porter and lounged. Maria was unable to make it, due to a birthday in the family. We were on a mountaintop and had a great view of the sunset. Unfortunately, none of the men got a deer.
