Mishaps

Lucy has recently gotten some scrapes and bonks. This first one just happened today...a result of insufficient balance and excessive toy clutter. I watched as she went down, unable to stop it, and when she came up she had tears in her eyes and an owchie on her nose. Luckily, two minutes later, when I took the picture, she was quite recovered. This second injury was self-inflicted, albeit inadvertently. When I got her up from a nap, I noticed the blood, and got a little "freaked out". It appeared to be coming from her inner ear. I called my mom almost in a panic to see if bursted ear drums produce blood, and she suggested I wipe the ear, just to see if it is a scratch. I prayed it was, but thought it surely could not be with all of this blood (it doesn't show it well, but there was actually quite a little bit of blood pooled at the bottom of her ear). Luckily, it was a scrape. I wiped her ear clean, then it pooled again, and I wiped it again, and it stopped bleeding. I was so relieved!

Clearly, I need to clip Lucy's fingernails more often.
