This morning, I watched from Lucy's doorway as she was lying awake in her crib. The flowery bumpers hid all but her forearms and hands which were wrapped around her teddy bear hugging it to her belly. One hand started to pat the bear's back and then I heard a smack of lips that I could only assume was directed at the bear's nose. And then a small contented sigh as she continued waiting patiently for me to rescue her from her bed.
It's like that most mornings. By the time I make it to my place at the doorway, I never know how long this sweet girl has been awake. She is happy to wait for me to discover her and rarely makes a peep in the mornings.
But this morning, something was a little different from the norm. Lucy had the best bedhead I have seen in a while.
