Mt. Rushmore

We went on an awesome trip to Custer State Park with Eric's family.  Everyone except Marisa came and we had such a blast.

Some of the highlights:

Seeing the donkeys on the wildlife loop

A kind lady gave the kids some baby carrots to feed the donkeys.  They loved it!

We saw several deer and antelope on the loop as well as this one herd of buffalo.

Mount Rushmore was awesome-sauce!  The visitor's center was a favorite.  There was tons of information on the whole process of sculpting the mountain, inspiring quotes from the four men whose faces are carved there, and the kids loved the part where they got to dynamite the mountain.  We walked around the boardwalk and saw a goat and it's kid.

We did a five mile hike called Sunday Gulch.  The beginning was very fun--we bouldered down, down, down.  There were waterfalls next to the trail and all the greenery felt rain forest-like.  But walking eventually got old as the trail turned out to be nearly twice as long as we thought.

We drove past Crazy Horse, another crazy-huge face on a mountain.  If the project is ever finished it will also be very awesome.

Well, it's pretty impressive even now.

The whole trip was a joy.  It put us in mind of doing more long roadies and experiencing more awesomeness!
