Lately, I have had the desire to do things I haven't done before. I have really been enjoying my new experiences. And in this spirit, I did three new things today.
The first thing was toasting pumpkin seeds. Debbie gave me some of hers that she didn't get around to cooking. And then I added some from my own pumpkin. They turned out very nicely. I have been eating them all afternoon.

The second thing was baking pumpkin. I have cooked pumpkin before, but in a pressure cooker. I decided to try it in the oven. It seemed like a good idea, especially when I saw that it can cook whole. And it went pretty well. I had to cook it longer than directed, but it turned out. I got seven bags. The makings of seven delicious desserts!! I love pumpkin.

The third thing was pine nuts. Christy gave us some pine cones to cook. Another success. Also, this was my first pine nut tasting experience as well (as far as I know). I like them very well.

And now I am working on spaghetti sauce. I have been in the kitchen all day. So fun!
Make sure when baking with pumpkin to decrease liquids or increase flour... fresh pumpkin has LOTS of water!
